A lovely place to stay, Villa Guajimico is the ideal destination for those who want to combine diving with sightseeing and trekking the Cuban countryside enjoying a spectacular view of Escambray Mountains, in a relaxing area. Nearby there is a small cove, beach and horseback at near "Finca de Vega".
There are 16 dive sites in a narrow strip with a rocky and coral bottom forming ridge falling rapidly into a drop-off at 10 meters 33 feet deep. Three of this sites are for resort courses and the remaining is mainly for wall dives. The region has a score of diving sites where visitors can watch more than 50 species of corals and 70 species of fish. The visibility is good all year, then from 5 to more than 60 meters, 18 different kinds of corals can be seen as well as many sponges, red snapper, barracuda, quelonian, devil fish, sawfish etc.
Villa Guajimico has a collection of 54 air conditioned bungalows beautifully scattered around a sheltered cove with a private beach and harbor. All rooms with bathroom, and satellite television, telephone and balcony according to availability.
The program of activities includes nautical sports, cocktail making, dance classes and competitions, excursions to the beach and the waterfall, and trekking to "La Virgen" and "La Grande" caves.
Scuba diving takes place twice a day, one morning dive returning to shore for lunch and one afternoon dive. The two dive boats accommodate 20 and 30 persons each.
Tourism desk offers trekking excursions to "Topes de Collantes" and sightseeing to Cienfuegos and Trinidad. The visitors usually take a boat out to "Cayo Blanco" for half day excursion including freshly caught lobster lunch, lying on beach, snorkeling and diving if wanted. |
