Cayo Coco

"Jardines del Rey", has a coral reef about 400 kilometers, is considered the second largest in the world after Australia, gives a touch of class to tourism in the region, with a wide range of diving activities in warm clear waters.

"Cayo Coco", is the largest cay in the region and fourth largest in the Cuban archipelago, covering an area of 370 square kilometers, including 22 kilometers of excellent beaches, complemented by mangrove vegetation and coconut trees. Between the beaches of Cayo Coco include "Las Coloradas", "Jaula" and "El flamenco", where tourists can go diving and enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful seabed, which are inhabited by a variety of plant and animals. Many colonies of flamingos and other migratory birds choose the aforementioned keys to nest in the winter, a condition that has been preserved, trying to build a tourist infrastructure that respects the natural environment in the first place.

According to legend, the exuberant nature of the keys as "Cayo Coco", "Cayo Guillermo" and "Paredon Grande" was leading to "Diego Velázquez" to name the region "Jardines del Rey", in honor of Spanish King "Fernando el Católico".

The name "Cayo Coco" comes from the presence of White Ibis - popularly known as "Ave Coco" that adorn the key, with its bright colors. About 200 species of animals live on the cay, including birds and reptiles such as iguanas, as well as over 360 species of plants, many of which are endemic.

"Cayo Coco" offers first class, 5 star hotels, artificial lakes, swimming pools, entertainment and services in an environment that has barely been altered by human action, guaranteeing an unforgettable stay.

You can rent a car and drive to Cayo Coco because the cay is separated from the mainland by a causeway that begins in Turiguanó, north of Ciego de Avila, is famous for its lakes, where trout fishing and beautiful rural landscapes are the main attractions for tourists..
