Soroa is located 76 km west of Havana, in the province of Pinar del Rio in the west of " Sierra del Rosario", Cuba.
Natural Park Reserve covers an area of 25,000 hectares, bordering the shores of several of the most important rivers of Soroa region: "Rio Bayate and" Rio Manantiales ".
These rivers are endowed with crystal clear water and when it rains it always creates a beautiful rainbow to disperse sunlight on them.
On the highest hill of Soroa you can enjoy a delicious dinner at the "Castillo Las Nubes". The "Castle in the Clouds" was built in 1867 by Don Pedro, Andaluz from Spain, where he liked to meet friends and family. After the Cuban Revolution the Castle became state property.
The Hotel "Villa Soroa" is in the Pinar del Río fast, surrounded by diversity of flora and fauna. Soroa's climate is characterized by frequent rainfall and the average temperature is 24 C - 75 F. Part of this area is covered with tropical evergreen forest, some of the trees are 40 meters high. On the outskirts of Soroa have been identified more than 100 species of trees, 60 species of other vines, 50 of edible plants and about 20 palm trees and bamboo. Lichens and mosses are abundant too. The fauna of the region is abundant and rich in diversity, within the family of birds there are more than 50 species, Trogon, the national bird of Cuba (Trogon) Cartacuba (Todus multicolor), Nightingale (Myadestes elisadeth), Royal Wrasse ( tordus leaden) and Hummingbird (Chlorostilbon ricarddi), a real experience for lovers of birdwatching.
As for places of historical and cultural interest in the region, there are ruins of several mansions, which were old French coffee plantations, (some of which have been restored) of French colonialists who settled in this region in the first XIX century decade. Visitors can enjoy the sight of the beautiful natural landscapes, exploring caves and waterfalls.
Cuba, which has an excellent location at the entrance to the Caribbean Sea, bets heavily on tourism, based on its natural attractions, with unique options for nature lovers.
One of the main destinations for nature tourism is the western province of Pinar del Rio, where a project combines sustainable development and tourism in the mountain community of Las Terrazas.
Its importance and interest is heightened by the fact that Las Terrazas is situated in Sierra del Rosario, one of Cuba's natural strongholds, which was declared a Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural (UNESCO) in 1985.
